I have picked up a piece of militaria that spoke to me, although I cannot identify the original owner. This sterling silver ring, a memento vice official military issue item, showed significant wear from the original owner’s affection for this piece of jewelry.

The liberal use of the “Prop & Wings” is iconic of the World War II Era, and from the wear on the sides, it was obviously worn often by the original owner. The “U” and “S” shields are barely visible from the wear.
As an Airman in the World’s Greatest Air Force, and an heir to this man’s legacy, I am proud to also wear this ring with pride.
Very nice piece Brock, is it a United States Army Air Corps ring? The prop along with the wings leads me to think this.

The Army Air Corps was officially merged with the General Headquarters Air Force on June 20, 1941 to create the Army Air Forces (which was essentially a separate service in all but name.)
The U.S. Air Force was established as a separate branch / service of the U.S. Military by the National Defense Act of 1947 on September 18, 1947.
The “S” at the end of the “Air Forces” dates it to the World War II Era.

A very nice ring indeed. And very loved/used.
Either this one is without the blue enamel around the letters, or simply lost through time. I have the same ring, almost mint that has the blue enamel.
I’m sorry I cannot show you. It doesn’t let me post a photo.
Best,
Jerry

Jerry,
If you’d like to send me photos, I will be able to add them to this blog posting. I’d love to have a “mint” ring for comparison.
