The Letter

My Dearest –

Forgive me for not writing yesterday but I just couldn’t get in the mood it seemed.  I went on the beach yesterday and had some beer and then went to the movie last nite.  “Bedtime Story” was the name of the movie and I enjoyed it very much.  It was the kind of movie I would like to see with you, but nearly all of them are.  This is a nice Sunday here and the weather is swell though rather sultry this morning.  We will probably get a rain this afternoon.

I’ve been working this morning and have several things to do this afternoon.  Wish I could be home with you on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

We’re flying our flag at half mast as a sign of mourning for the Secretary of the Navy.  His death came as a surprise and a shock to most of us.  I wonder who will be our new Civilian head.  I wrote for my war ballot this morning.  I hope everything works out all right so I can vote.  You must be sure to register so you can vote also.  Voting is a privilege but also a responsibility that we must assume if we expect to retain our privileges as citizens.

I love you an awful lot Darling.  Haven’t had any mail the past two days so I’ve been rather lonely.  I really miss your letters.  I hope that you have been getting mail from me recently.

Give my love to everyone.  I’m hoping to be back some time this year again.  When I don’t know, tho I don’t expect it will be very soon.  Just keep hoping.

Well I’m just about through for now.  We’ll be at sea for a few days so I won’t get to mail any letters for awhile.  I’ll try to write while I’m out if I possibly can.  Good afternoon Darling

With Love
Morris
